Hi, I'm Omy Golden.
I’m a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania with 8+ years of experience providing counseling to individuals and couples. My pronouns are she/her/hers.

I help adults create healing in their lives, which often means addressing past traumas and relationship hurts that stand in the way of us showing up as our authentic selves.

I believe that you are the expert on you. Through curiosity, gentleness, and acceptance, I can help you discover your own unique path towards overcoming life’s challenges.

During our work together, I will use compassion and empathy to create a safe place to explore your feelings. I will show up with warmth, authenticity, and a lack of judgement. I am collaborative in my approach, and I am happy to problem solve and give feedback when helpful. You may come away from our time together with a few too many book recommendations, a surprising amount of laughter, and a sense that you are no longer in this journey alone.

Using my background in expressive arts therapy, I can help you explore your sense of creativity, whether that means recovering long-lost passions or uncovering new ways to be playful and find joy in life. And I'm not just talking about ‘Art’ with a capital ‘A.’ Creativity can show up in so many ways -- how you dress, how you cook, how you relate to partners and friends, or how you express yourself in the pages of a journal, to name just a few examples.

As a person and a clinician I strive to be actively antiracist, body-neutral, and trans- and gender affirming. I welcome and celebrate diversity, including all body shapes/sizes, ethnicities, sexualities, genders, and relationship styles (including ethical non-monogamy/polyamory and BDSM/kink).

Oftentimes when we are ready to seek counseling we may find ourselves in a dark place, struggling to see our way forward, but knowing something needs to change. If you are ready to take that next step, despite the darkness, I invite you to reach out. Contact me to set up a consultation and see if together we can shed some light on what the healing path looks like for you.

What are your fees?$140 per 53-minute individual therapy session, and $210 per 90-minute couples therapy session.

Do you offer sliding scale?Yes, I reserve a certain number of sliding scale spots for people who cannot afford current market rates for therapy, or who do not have adequate health insurance coverage. I do that through Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. Those rates are $40-$70 per 50 minute individual session. Please ask me about whether I have any sliding scale openings available. If I do, I'm happy to go over the details of getting set up with Open Path.

What's the difference between "sliding scale" and "reduced fee"?Sliding scale is a specific term that refers to a significantly reduced rate based on your financial situation. It is for when people's financial situations would be a serious barrier to getting care, or when they don't have adequate health coverage. Reduced fee is just that, a reduction of the full fee. If someone I'm working with encounters a financial hardship and needs a temporary fee reduction, I can often work with them to find a solution that makes sense for both of us.

Do you take insurance?Yes. I am currently in network with Aetna, Oxford, United Health Care, and Oscar Health. I use Headway to manage billing and payment for insurance clients. You can check your benefits coverage and book a free 15 minute phone consultation here: https://tinyurl.com/omyheadway If you don't have one of those plans but you still want to use your health insurance, check with your plan about "out of network" coverage. I can provide "superbills" or receipts for people who want to submit to their plans for possible reimbursement. You can also check if you have out of network coverage here: https://www.mentaya.com/patients

Do you see people in person? Do you do virtual sessions?I do both! I see people in person in Fort Washington, PA. Here are a few pictures of the office: I also see people all across Pennsylvania through virtual telehealth sessions.

How can I tell if you're the right counselor for me?Great question! Finding the right fit can be one of the hardest parts of finding a therapist. I want to make sure you feel confident about whoever you ultimately choose to work with. If you think I might be a good choice for you, let's set up a 15 minute phone consultation. This will give both of us a chance to see if we should explore working together. If we agree, we can set up an intake appointment.
